Dear Audrey,
It is the season of gratitude, joy and wonder. But have you ever noticed how much sweeter life’s small joys feel after we’ve experienced their absence? Like that first hot shower after a camping trip or the moment we heal from an injury and realize just how miraculous a healthy body is.
I recently wrote a blog post about this idea: how life’s challenges—whether it’s discomfort, loss, or struggle—can actually deepen our gratitude. It’s the kind of gratitude that sneaks up on you when the lights turn on with the flip of a switch after days of camping in the dark or when you hug a loved one extra tight after a close call reminds you of life’s fragility.
In the blog, I explore:
- The magic of rediscovering comforts we often take for granted (like refrigerators full of food and warm showers).
- How loss or near-loss can make our relationships even more precious.
- Why injuries or illnesses teach us to cherish our bodies in new ways.
It’s a heartfelt reflection on the way life’s contrasts make us more aware of the gifts we already have—and how we can use those lessons to cultivate gratitude every day.
